शतानि त्रीणि गत्वा अथ योजनानाम् महाकपे ।
तेजसा तस्य निर्धूतो न विषादम् ततो गतः ॥४-६६-२२॥
śatāni trīṇi gatvā atha yojanānām mahākape |
tejasā tasya nirdhūto na viṣādam tato gataḥ ॥4-66-22॥
Translation
"Having gone up three hundred yojanas, O great monkey, even though struck by his [the Sun's] splendor, you did not give in to despair."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे महाकपि! (उस समय तुम) तीन सौ योजन (ऊपर) चले गए। सूर्य के तेज (गर्मी) से संतप्त होने पर भी तुम तनिक भी विषाद (घबराहट या हार) को प्राप्त नहीं हुए।"
English Commentary
This verse underscores Hanuman's endurance. Traversing 300 yojanas and withstanding the searing heat of the sun did not deter the infant Hanuman. The phrase 'na vishadam gatah' (did not yield to despair) encapsulates his core resilience. Jambavan's argument is mathematically compelling: if he covered 300 yojanas as a baby, the current task of crossing merely 100 yojanas to reach Lanka should be well within his capacity. This serves to mathematically and psychologically dismantle Hanuman's self-doubt.

यह श्लोक हनुमान की सहनशक्ति (Endurance) को रेखांकित करता है। ३०० योजन की ऊँचाई और सूर्य की भीषण गर्मी भी उस बालक को नहीं रोक सकी। 'न विषादम् गतः' (निराश/विचलित नहीं हुए) — यह हनुमान का मूल स्वभाव है। जाम्बवान याद दिला रहे हैं कि लंका तो केवल १०० योजन दूर है, जबकि बचपन में वे ३०० योजन जा चुके हैं। यह तुलना हनुमान के वर्तमान संशय को मिटाने के लिए अकाट्य तर्क (Irrefutable argument) है।
