प्रसादिते च पवने ब्रह्मा तुभ्यम् वरम् ददौ ।
अशस्त्र वध्यताम् तात समरे सत्य विक्रम ॥ ॥४-६६-२७॥
Prasādite ca pavane brahmā tubhyam varam dadau |
Aśastra vadhyatām tāta samare satya vikrama ॥4-66-27॥
Translation
O Dear One of true valor! Once the Wind God was pacified, Lord Brahma granted you a boon: that you would be immune to death by any weapon in battle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सत्य पराक्रमी तात! वायु देव के प्रसन्न होने पर ब्रह्मा जी ने आपको वरदान दिया कि युद्ध में किसी भी प्रकार के शस्त्र से आपकी मृत्यु नहीं होगी।
English Commentary
Jambavan now recounts the specific divine boons bestowed upon Hanuman. The Creator, Brahma, granted him 'Ashastra Vadhyatam'—immunity from being killed by any celestial or terrestrial weapon. This is crucial context for the battles to come in Lanka; it explains why Hanuman is virtually invincible. Even when struck by powerful weapons later in the epic, he is never killed. Jambavan addresses him as 'Satya Vikrama' (True Valor), reinforcing that his strength is real and divinely protected. This is intended to eliminate any fear of physical harm during his mission.
हिंदी टीका
जामवंत जी अब हनुमान जी को प्राप्त अमोघ वरदानों की सूची बता रहे हैं। सबसे पहले वे सृष्टि रचयिता ब्रह्मा के वरदान का उल्लेख करते हैं—'अशस्त्र वध्यताम्'। इसका अर्थ है कि कोई भी अस्त्र-शस्त्र हनुमान जी के प्राण नहीं ले सकता। बाद में लंका में जब मेघनाद ब्रह्मास्त्र का प्रयोग करता है, तो हनुमान जी केवल ब्रह्मा जी का मान रखने के लिए बंधते हैं, मरते नहीं। यह श्लोक हनुमान जी को यह विश्वास दिलाने के लिए है कि रावण की सेना का कोई भी हथियार उनका बाल भी बांका नहीं कर सकता, इसलिए उन्हें निडर होकर समुद्र पार करना चाहिए।
