अरिष्टनेमिनः पुत्रो वैनतेयो महाबलः ।
गरुत्मान् इव विख्यात उत्तमः सर्व पक्षिणाम् ॥४-६६-४॥
ariṣṭaneminaḥ putro vainateyo mahābalaḥ |
garutmān iva vikhyāta uttamaḥ sarva pakṣiṇām ॥4-66-4॥
Translation
"Just as the son of Arishtanemi, the son of Vinata, the greatly powerful Garuda is famous as the best among all birds..."

English Commentary
Jambavan employs a mythological simile here. In the context of flight and speed, Garuda is the absolute standard. By invoking Garuda (Vainateya), who is the mount of Lord Vishnu, Jambavan sets the bar for the comparison. He does not compare Hanuman to other monkeys but to the King of Birds. This is strategically chosen because Hanuman is about to undertake an aerial journey. The verse lifts the perception of Hanuman's capabilities from the biological limitations of a Vanara to the divine capabilities of the greatest celestial flyer.

यहाँ जाम्बवान एक पौराणिक उपमा (Simile) का प्रयोग करते हैं। उड़ने या लांघने के संदर्भ में 'गरुड़' सर्वश्रेष्ठ मानक (Gold Standard) हैं। गरुड़ का वेग और शक्ति जगप्रसिद्ध है। जाम्बवान हनुमान की तुलना किसी अन्य वानर से न करके सीधे पक्षीराज गरुड़ से कर रहे हैं। यह तुलना इसलिए भी उपयुक्त है क्योंकि आगे चलकर हनुमान को आकाश मार्ग से ही यात्रा करनी है। यह श्लोक हनुमान की क्षमता को 'वानर-स्तर' से उठाकर 'दैवीय-स्तर' पर ले जाता है।
