बहुशो हि मया दृष्टः सागरे स महाबलः ।
भुजगान् उद्धरन् पक्षी महावेगो महायशाः ॥४-६६-५॥
bahuśo hi mayā dṛṣṭaḥ sāgare sa mahābalaḥ |
bhujagān uddharan pakṣī mahāvego mahāyaśāḥ ॥4-66-5॥
Translation
"...Indeed, that greatly powerful bird of great speed and great fame has been seen by me many times in the ocean, lifting up serpents."

"...उस महावेगशाली, महायशस्वी महाबली पक्षी (गरुड़) को मैंने अनेकों बार समुद्र में से सर्पों को ऊपर उठाते (पकड़ते) हुए देखा है।"
English Commentary
Jambavan validates his comparison with personal testimony. By stating 'maya drishtah' (seen by me), he leverages his extreme age and ancient status to provide an eyewitness account, moving the statement from legend to fact. He describes Garuda's act of plucking serpents from the ocean—a feat requiring immense speed and power. The implication is that Jambavan knows what true power looks like, and by invoking this memory, he suggests that he sees the same potential for mastering the ocean in Hanuman as he saw in Garuda.

जाम्बवान यहाँ अपनी वयोवृद्ध अवस्था और अनुभव का प्रमाण दे रहे हैं। 'मया दृष्टः' (मैंने देखा है) कहकर वे अपनी बात को केवल सुनी-सुनाई कथा नहीं, बल्कि प्रत्यक्षदर्शी प्रमाण (Eyewitness account) के रूप में प्रस्तुत करते हैं। वे गरुड़ के उस पराक्रम का वर्णन कर रहे हैं जहाँ वे समुद्र से विशाल नागों को उठाते हैं—जो कि अत्यंत शक्ति और वेग का कार्य है। इसका भाव यह है कि जैसे गरुड़ समुद्र से निर्भय होकर खेलते हैं, वैसे ही हनुमान के लिए यह समुद्र लांघना कोई बड़ी बात नहीं होनी चाहिए।
