Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मारुतस्य समो वेगे गरुडस्य समो जवे ।
अयुतम् योजनानाम् तु गमिष्यामि इति मे मतिः ॥ ॥४-६७-२७॥
Mārutasya samo vege garuḍasya samo jave |
Ayutam yojanānām tu gamiṣyāmi iti me matiḥ ॥4-67-27॥
Translation
Equal to the Wind in speed and equal to Garuda in swiftness, I am confident that I can travel even ten thousand Yojanas.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं वेग में वायु के समान और तीव्रता में गरुड़ के समान हूँ। मेरा मत (विश्वास) है कि मैं दस हजार (अयुत) योजन भी जा सकता हूँ।
English Commentary
Hanuman quantifies his potential to put the task in perspective. The ocean is 100 yojanas, but he claims a range of 10,000 (Ayutam) yojanas. By declaring his capacity is 100 times the required distance, he trivializes the obstacle. It is a psychological tactic to comfort the army: "Don't worry about the 100 miles, I have enough gas for 10,000."

लंका केवल 100 योजन दूर है, लेकिन हनुमान जी कहते हैं कि उनकी क्षमता 10,000 (अयुत) योजन जाने की है। इसे 'ओवर-क्वालिफिकेशन' कहते हैं। जब चुनौती क्षमता से बहुत छोटी हो, तो डर समाप्त हो जाता है। वे वानरों को समझा रहे हैं कि 100 योजन उनके लिए कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है, क्योंकि उनकी 'रेंज' (range) उससे सौ गुना अधिक है।
