Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वृतम् नाना विधैः पुष्पैः मृग सेवित शाद्वलम् ।
लता कुसुम संबंधम् नित्य पुष्प फल द्रुमम् ॥ ॥४-६७-४०॥
Vṛtam nānā vidhaiḥ puṣpaiḥ mṛga sevita śādvalam |
Latā kusuma saṃbādham nitya puṣpa phala drumam ॥4-67-40॥
Translation
That mountain was covered with various kinds of flowers, with deer grazing on its grassy lawns. It was crowded with creepers and blossoms, and trees that bore fruit and flowers in all seasons.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह पर्वत नाना प्रकार के फूलों से ढका था, वहाँ की हरी घास पर मृग विचरण करते थे। वह लताओं और फूलों से भरा हुआ था और वहाँ के वृक्ष नित्य फल-फूल देने वाले थे।
English Commentary
This verse paints the picture of the calm before the storm. The poet describes the idyllic and serene environment of Mount Mahendra—green lawns, grazing deer, and blooming flora. This beauty and tranquility stand in stark contrast to the massive turbulence that is about to be unleashed by Hanuman’s physical exertion. It depicts nature in its nurturing form (trees bearing fruit in all seasons), setting the stage to show how raw power can disrupt even the most peaceful of settings.

यह श्लोक उस शांति का चित्रण है जो तूफान से पहले होती है। कवि महेंद्र पर्वत के रमणीय और शांत वातावरण का वर्णन कर रहे हैं—हरी घास, चरते मृग, और खिले हुए फूल। यह सौंदर्य और शांति उस प्रचंड उथल-पुथल के विपरीत है जो हनुमान जी के पैरों के दबाव से उत्पन्न होने वाली है। यह प्रकृति का वह रूप है जो जीवन को पोषण देता है (नित्य पुष्प फल), जबकि अगला दृश्य शक्ति के प्रदर्शन का होगा।
