मधुरम् सान्त्वितः तेन सुग्रीवेण स राघवः ।
मुखम् अश्रु परि क्लिन्नम् वस्त्र अन्तेन प्रमार्जयत् ॥ ॥४-७-१५॥
Madhuram sāntvitah tena sugrīveṇa sa rāghavah |
Mukham ashru pari klinnam vastra antena pramārjayat ॥4-7-15॥
Translation
Consoled sweetly by Sugriva, that Raghava wiped his face, which was wet with tears, with the edge of his garment.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस सुग्रीव द्वारा मधुरतापूर्वक समझाए जाने पर, उन राघव (राम) ने अपने आंसुओं से भीगे हुए मुख को वस्त्र के छोर (पल्लू) से पोंछ डाला।
English Commentary
This verse marks the turning point in the conversation. The advice has landed successfully because it was delivered 'sweetly' (madhuram). Rama's physical action of wiping his tear-stained face (ashru pari klinnam) symbolizes his internal shift from despair to resolve. It is a very human moment—even the divine Rama needs the console of a friend to snap out of grief. The act of wiping the face clears his vision, both literally and metaphorically, preparing him for the dialogue and action that must follow.
