बाष्पम् आपतितम् धैर्यात् निग्रहीतुम् त्वम् अर्हसि ।
मर्यादाम् सत्त्व युक्तानाम् धृतिम् न उत्स्रष्टुम् अर्हसि ॥ ॥४-७-८॥
Bāṣpam āpatitam dhairyāt nigrahītum tvam arhasi । Maryādām sattva yuktānām dhṛtim na utsraṣṭum arhasi ॥ ॥4-7-8॥
Translation
"You ought to restrain the falling tears with courage. You should not abandon the firmness and dignity that characterize the virtuous."

"धैर्य के साथ आपको उमड़ते हुए आंसुओं को रोकना चाहिए। सत्त्वगुण से युक्त पुरुषों की जो मर्यादा और धैर्य है, उसे त्यागना आपको शोभा नहीं देती।"
English Commentary
Sugriva calls upon Rama to uphold the maryada (boundary/code of conduct) of the virtuous (sattva yuktanam). Emotional incontinence is portrayed here as a breach of that code. The advice is practical: nigrahitum (to restrain/suppress) the tears. Sugriva is reminding Rama that leadership requires emotional stability (dhriti), and by giving in to despair, he is failing his own standard of character.
हिंदी टीका
सुग्रीव राम को 'मर्यादा' की याद दिला रहे हैं। 'सत्त्व युक्तानाम्' का अर्थ है वे लोग जिनमें सत्त्व गुण (पवित्रता, ज्ञान, संतुलन) प्रधान हो। रोना और विलाप करना 'तमस' (अंधकार/अज्ञान) का लक्षण है। सुग्रीव राम से कह रहे हैं कि वे अपने आंसुओं को रोकें ('निग्रहीतुम्')। एक राजा और नायक के रूप में राम को अपनी भावनाओं पर काबू पाना ही होगा ताकि वे अगला कदम उठा सकें।
