तस्य एकाम् पर्ण बहुलाम् शाखाम् भंक्त्वा सुशोभिताम् ।
रामस्य आस्तीर्य सुग्रीवो निषसाद स राघवः ॥ ॥४-८-१३॥
Tasya ekām parṇa bahulām śākhām bhaṃktvā suśobhitām |
Rāmasya āstīrya Sugrīvo niṣasāda sa Rāghavaḥ ॥4-8-13॥
Translation
Breaking off a beautiful branch thick with leaves from that tree, Sugriva spread it out for Rama; and then that Raghava sat down (and Sugriva sat with him).
हिंदी अनुवाद
सुग्रीव ने उस वृक्ष की एक सुंदर और बहुत से पत्तों वाली शाखा को तोड़कर राम के लिए (आसन के रूप में) बिछाया, और फिर वे राघव (राम) उस पर बैठ गए। (सुग्रीव भी उनके साथ बैठे)।
English Commentary
Sugriva’s action of breaking the branch himself, rather than ordering a subordinate, demonstrates personal devotion. He constructs a makeshift seat using the leafy branch (Parna bahulam) to ensure Rama's comfort. Rama accepting this rustic seat symbolizes his humility and acceptance of forest life. The text implies they sat down together or in close proximity, physically enacting the equality and closeness of the alliance they just verbally agreed upon.

यहाँ सुग्रीव स्वयं सेवा कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने मंत्रियों को आदेश नहीं दिया, बल्कि खुद शाखा तोड़ी। यह राम के प्रति उनके व्यक्तिगत प्रेम और सम्मान को दर्शाता है। 'पर्ण बहुलाम्' (बहुत पत्तों वाली) शाखा इसलिए चुनी ताकि राम को बैठने में कष्ट न हो। राम का उस पर बैठना यह दिखाता है कि वे प्रेम से दी गई साधारण वस्तु को भी राजसिंहासन से अधिक महत्वपूर्ण मानते हैं। 'निषसाद' का अर्थ है वे साथ में बैठे—जो बराबरी के स्तर और गहरी मित्रता का संकेत है।
