वालि सज्ञम् अमित्रम् ते भ्रातरम् कृत किल्बिषम् ।
शरैः विनिहतम् पश्य विकीर्णम् इव पर्वतम् ॥ ॥४-८-२४॥
Vāli sajñam amitram te bhrātaram kṛta kilbiṣam । Śaraiḥ vinihatam paśya vikīrṇam iva parvatam ॥ ॥4-8-24॥
Translation
You shall see your brother, known as Vali—now your enemy who has committed sins—killed by my arrows and scattered like a shattered mountain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम अपने उस भाई को, जो अब 'वाली' नाम का शत्रु है और जिसने पाप किया है, मेरे बाणों से मारा जाकर बिखरे हुए पर्वत के समान (धराशायी) देखोगे।
English Commentary
Rama frames the conflict morally, referring to Vali not just as a brother, but as a 'sinner' (kṛta kilbiṣam), thereby justifying the fratricide that is about to occur. The metaphor of the 'shattered mountain' is significant; it acknowledges Vali's immense physical stature while simultaneously promising his total destruction. Rama is projecting a vision of the future where the towering obstacle in Sugriva’s life is reduced to rubble, inviting Sugriva to share in that vision.

यहाँ श्रीराम अंतिम निर्णय सुनाते हैं। वे वाली को केवल 'भाई' नहीं, बल्कि 'कृत किल्बिषम्' (पापी) कहते हैं, जिससे उसके वध का नैतिक आधार स्पष्ट होता है। 'बिखरे हुए पर्वत' की उपमा यह बताती है कि वाली कितना भी विशाल और शक्तिशाली क्यों न हो, राम के बाणों के सामने वह चूर-चूर हो जाएगा। यह सुग्रीव के लिए सबसे बड़ा आश्वासन है कि उनका भय शीघ्र ही समाप्त होने वाला है।
