Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
राघवस्य वचः श्रुत्वा सुग्रीवो वाहिनी पतिः ।
प्रहर्षम् अतुलम् लेभे साधु साध्विति च अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥४-८-२५॥
Rāghavasya vacaḥ śrutvā sugrīvo vāhinī patiḥ । Praharṣam atulam lebhe sādhu sādhviti ca abravīt ॥ ॥4-8-25॥
Translation
Hearing Raghava’s words, Sugriva, the commander of the army, attained incomparable joy and exclaimed, 'Excellent! Excellent!'
हिंदी अनुवाद
राघव (श्रीराम) के वचन सुनकर वानर सेनापति सुग्रीव ने अतुलनीय हर्ष प्राप्त किया और "साधु! साधु!" (बहुत सुंदर! बहुत सुंदर!) ऐसा कहा।
English Commentary
This verse marks the turning point in Sugriva's emotional state. The phrase 'incomparable joy' indicates that Rama's vivid description of his power and intent successfully penetrated Sugriva's despair. Sugriva's exclamation of 'Sadhu! Sadhu!' (Bravo/Well said) is an affirmation of trust. It signifies the ratification of the alliance from Sugriva’s side, moving from a state of plea to a state of hopeful anticipation.

श्रीराम की प्रतिज्ञा सुनकर सुग्रीव की वर्षों की पीड़ा और भय क्षण भर के लिए दूर हो गए। 'अतुलनीय हर्ष' यह दर्शाता है कि सुग्रीव को पहली बार किसी पर पूर्ण विश्वास हुआ है। 'साधु-साधु' कहना एक प्राचीन अनुमोदन है, जो यह स्वीकार करता है कि राम के वचन न केवल वीरतापूर्ण हैं, बल्कि धर्म और सत्य पर आधारित हैं। सुग्रीव का आत्मविश्वास अब लौटने लगा है।
