यत्नवान् च स दुष्टात्मा मद् विनाशाय राघव ।
बहुशः तत् प्रयुक्ताः च वानरा निहता मया ॥ ॥४-८-३४॥
Yatnavān ca sa duṣṭātmā mad vināśāya rāghava । Bahuśaḥ tat prayuktāḥ ca vānarā nihatā mayā ॥ ॥4-8-34॥
Translation
O Raghava, that wicked-souled one makes constant efforts to destroy me. I have killed many Vanaras sent by him for this purpose.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे राघव! वह दुष्टात्मा मेरे विनाश के लिए निरंतर प्रयत्नशील रहता है। उसके द्वारा भेजे गए बहुत से वानरों को मैंने मार गिराया है।
English Commentary
This verse reveals that Sugriva is living in a state of constant survival mode. He is not merely an exile but a target. By mentioning that he has killed the assassins sent by Vali, Sugriva asserts his own martial capability to Rama—he is a warrior who fights back, not a helpless victim. However, the relentless nature of these attacks ('constant efforts') highlights why he desperately needs a superior ally.

सुग्रीव का जीवन ऋष्यमूक पर्वत पर केवल निर्वासन का नहीं, बल्कि निरंतर युद्ध का जीवन है। 'दुष्टात्मा' शब्द का प्रयोग कर वे वाली की क्रूरता को रेखांकित करते हैं। सुग्रीव बताते हैं कि वाली ने हत्यारे (assassins) भेजे थे, जिनका उन्होंने वध किया। यह सिद्ध करता है कि सुग्रीव कायर नहीं हैं; वे आत्मरक्षा में सक्षम हैं, लेकिन वाली की शक्ति के सामने वे अकेले पड़ गए हैं।
