Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सुखम् हि कारणम् श्रुत्वा वैरस्य तव वानर ।
आनन्तर्यद् विधास्यामि संप्रधार्य बलाबलम् ॥ ॥४-८-४२॥
Sukham hi kāraṇam śrutvā vairasya tava vānara । Ānantaryad vidhāsyāmi saṃpradhārya balābalam ॥ ॥4-8-42॥
Translation
O Vanara, having heard the cause of your enmity, and having weighed the strengths and weaknesses, I will easily determine the subsequent action.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे वानर! तुम्हारे वैर का कारण सुनकर, और (दोनों पक्षों के) बल और अबल (कमजोरी) का भली-भांति विचार करके, मैं सुखपूर्वक आगे का विधान (कार्य) कर सकूँगा।
English Commentary
Rama explains the strategic necessity of knowing the backstory. Assessing bala-abalam (strengths and weaknesses) is standard military doctrine. Rama indicates that understanding the emotional and factual roots of the conflict will allow him to formulate a plan ('subsequent action') with ease and precision. It turns the emotional plea into a solvable strategic problem.
हिंदी टीका
श्रीराम स्पष्ट करते हैं कि पूरी बात जानने के बाद ही वे रणनीति (strategy) बना पाएंगे। 'बलाबलम्' का विचार करना युद्ध नीति का हिस्सा है। कारण जानने से राम को यह तय करने में आसानी होगी कि शत्रु का वध कैसे किया जाए और सुग्रीव को न्याय कैसे दिलाया जाए। 'सुखम्' शब्द दर्शाता है कि सत्य जानने के बाद निर्णय लेना सरल हो जाता है।
