Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तस्मिन् द्रवति संत्रस्ते हि आवाम् द्रुततरम् गतौ ।
प्रकाशः अपि कृतः मार्गः चन्द्रेण उद्गच्छता तदा ॥ ॥४-९-१०॥
Tasmin dravati saṃtraste hi āvām drutataram gatau । Prakāśaḥ api kṛtaḥ mārgaḥ candreṇa udgacchatā tadā ॥ ॥4-9-10॥
Translation
When he fled in terror, we both chased him even faster. The path was illuminated by the rising moon at that time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस डरे हुए असुर के भागने पर हम दोनों और अधिक तेज गति से उसके पीछे दौड़े। उस समय उगते हुए चंद्रमा ने मार्ग में प्रकाश कर दिया था।
English Commentary
The chase ensues. Valmiki adds the detail of the rising moon illuminating the path. This serves a narrative function: it explains how they could track the fleeing demon in the dead of night. It also sets an eerie atmosphere—a moonlit pursuit leading to a dark destiny. The brothers are united in speed and purpose here, a sharp contrast to the separation that is moments away.

यहाँ दृश्य (scene) का वर्णन सिनेमाई है। चांदनी रात में दो भाई एक असुर का पीछा कर रहे हैं। चंद्रमा का उदय होना यह सुनिश्चित करता है कि दृश्यता (visibility) थी, जिससे वे असुर को देख सके कि वह कहाँ जा रहा है। यह पीछा करना ही उस गुफा तक ले जाएगा जहाँ सुगरीव के जीवन का सबसे बड़ा दुर्भाग्य उनकी प्रतीक्षा कर रहा था।
