स तु निर्धूय सर्वान् नो निर्जगाम महाबलः ।
ततः अहम् अपि सौहार्दान् निःसृतः वालिना सह ॥ ॥४-९-८॥
Sa tu nirdhūya sarvān no nirjagāma mahābalaḥ । Tataḥ aham api sauhārdān niḥsṛtaḥ vālinā saha ॥ ॥4-9-8॥
Translation
That mighty one, shaking us all off, went out. Then I too, out of affection/brotherly love, went out along with Vali.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह महाबली हम सबको झटककर (तिरस्कार करके) चला गया। तब मैं भी सौहार्द (भाईचारे/प्रेम) के कारण वाली के साथ-साथ चल पड़ा।
English Commentary
Vali physically rejects their counsel ("shaking us all off"), demonstrating his arrogance. Sugriva, however, follows him not out of obligation, but sauhardāt (good-heartedness/affection). He didn't want his brother to face the enemy alone. This act of following the angry brother into the dark night establishes Sugriva’s loyalty beyond doubt.

वाली ने सबको झटक दिया, जो उसके अहंकार को दिखाता है। लेकिन सुग्रीव का कार्य देखिये—वे अपमानित होकर रुके नहीं, बल्कि 'सौहार्द' (स्नेह) के कारण भाई की रक्षा के लिए पीछे-पीछे चल पड़े। सुग्रीव यह बिंदु राम के सामने स्पष्ट करना चाहते हैं कि वे अंत तक एक वफादार भाई बने रहे।
