Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्लवङ्गप्रवरैर्दृष्टः प्लवने कृतनिश्चयः ।
ववृधे रामवृद्ध्यर्थम् समुद्र इव पर्वसु ॥५-१-१०॥
plavaṅgapravarairdṛṣṭaḥ plavane kṛtaniścayaḥ |
vavṛdhe rāmavṛddhyartham samudra iva parvasu ॥5-1-10॥
Translation
Watched by the foremost of Vanaras and determined to leap, he grew for the sake of Rama's success, just as the ocean swells during the changing phases of the moon (parvas).
हिंदी अनुवाद
वानर श्रेष्ठों द्वारा देखे जाते हुए, छलांग लगाने का निश्चय कर चुके हनुमान जी, श्री राम के कार्य की सिद्धि (वृद्धि) के लिए, पर्व के दिनों (पूर्णिमा/अमावस्या) में समुद्र की भांति बढ़ने लगे।
English Commentary
The mechanics of Hanuman's growth are linked to his motivation. The phrase 'Ramavriddhyartham' (for the sake of Rama's prosperity/success) is the catalyst. Just as the ocean responds to the moon during high tides ('parvasu'), Hanuman responds to the need of Rama's mission. It implies that his power is drawn from his devotion; he is a force of nature acting in service of the Divine. The imagery of the swelling ocean also foreshadows the very obstacle he is about to cross. Being watched by the other Vanaras validates the historicity of the moment within the narrative.

यहाँ हनुमान जी के शरीर के विस्तार की तुलना समुद्र में आने वाले ज्वार से की गई है। जैसे चंद्रमा के प्रभाव से समुद्र का जलस्तर बढ़ता है ('पर्वसु'), वैसे ही 'रामवृद्ध्यर्थम्' (राम के कार्य को बढ़ाने/सिद्ध करने के लिए) हनुमान जी का उत्साह और शरीर बढ़ रहा है। यहाँ भक्ति का अद्भुत स्वरूप है—उनका विस्तार स्वयं के अहंकार के लिए नहीं, अपितु स्वामी के कार्य के लिए है। अन्य वानर उन्हें विस्मय से देख रहे हैं, जो गवाह हैं कि यह कार्य सामान्य नहीं है। 'कृतनिश्चयः' पुनः उनके अटल संकल्प को दोहराता है।
