उत्पपात जलात्तूर्णं महाद्रुमलतायुतः ।
स सागरजलं भित्त्वा बभूवाभ्युत्थितस्तदा ॥ ॥५-१-१०२॥
utpapāta jalāttūrṇaṃ mahādrumalatāyutaḥ । sa sāgarajalaṃ bhittvā babhūvābhyutthitastadā ॥ ॥5-1-102॥
Translation
He rose quickly from the water, covered with great trees and creepers. Breaking through the ocean water, he stood risen high at that time.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह (मैनाक) बड़े-बड़े वृक्षों और लताओं सहित जल से शीघ्रता से ऊपर उठा। उस समय वह सागर के जल को चीरकर बहुत ऊँचा प्रकट हो गया।
English Commentary
The emergence of Mainaka is dramatic. He doesn't slowly float up; he bursts forth (utpapāta—flew up/sprang up). The imagery is surreal: a mountain emerging from the deep sea fully adorned with "great trees and creepers" (mahādrumalatāyutaḥ). This suggests Mainaka sustained a terrestrial ecosystem even while submerged, highlighting his divine nature. The verb bhittvā (breaking/splitting) emphasizes the force required to displace the volume of water as he rises.
