Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आदित्योदयसंकाशैरालिखद्भिरिवाम्बरम् ।
तप्तजाम्बूनदैः शृङिगाः पर्वतस्य समुत्थितैः ॥ ॥५-१-१०५॥
ādityodayasaṃkāśairālikhadbhirivāmbaram । taptajāmbūnadaiḥ śṛṅgigāḥ parvatasya samutthitaiḥ ॥ ॥5-1-105॥
Translation
With his risen peaks made of molten gold, resembling the sunrise, he seemed to be scratching the sky.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस पर्वत के ऊपर उठे हुए शिखर तपाए हुए सोने (जाम्बूनद) के समान थे, वे उगते हुए सूर्य की आभा वाले थे और मानो आकाश को कुरेद (स्पर्श कर) रहे थे।
English Commentary
The imagery here is vertical and luminous. The peaks are so high they seem to "scratch" or "paint" the sky (ālikhadbhir ivāmbaram). The color is specific: tapta-jāmbūnada—refined, molten gold, which glows with a reddish-orange hue, hence the comparison to the rising sun (ādityodaya). This visual serves to arrest Hanuman’s attention amidst the vast blue emptiness of the sky and sea.

कवि मैनाक की ऊँचाई और चमक का वर्णन करते हैं। 'आलिखद्भिरिवाम्बरम्' (मानो आकाश को लिख/कुरेद रहे हों)—यह ऊँचाई की अतिशयोक्ति है (hyperbole)। शिखरों का रंग 'तप्तजाम्बूनद' है—अर्थात भट्टी में तपाया हुआ कुंदन (सोना), जो लालिमा लिए हुए होता है, इसलिए उनकी तुलना 'आदित्योदय' (सूर्योदय) से की गई है। नीला आकाश और स्वर्णिम शिखर का कंट्रास्ट अत्यंत मनोहारी है।
