Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आकाशं शस्त्रसंकाशमभवत्काञ्चनप्रभम् ।
जातरूपमयैः शृङ्गैर्भ्राजमानैः स्वयंप्रभैः ॥ ॥५-१-१०६॥
ākāśaṃ śastrasaṃkāśamabhavatkāñcanaprabham । jātarūpamayaiḥ śṛṅgairbhrājamānaiḥ svayaṃprabhaiḥ ॥ ॥5-1-106॥
Translation
The sky, which resembled a sword (in its blue/dark clearness), became golden in radiance due to those shining, self-luminous peaks of gold.
हिंदी अनुवाद
स्वयं प्रकाशमान (स्वयंप्रभ) सोने के शिखरों के कारण वह आकाश, जो (नीले) शस्त्र के समान निर्मल था, सुनहरी आभा वाला हो गया।
English Commentary
The sky is described as śastra-saṃkāśam—resembling a weapon (specifically the steel-blue glint of a polished sword). This cool, dark background is suddenly flooded with warm light (kāñcana-prabham) from Mainaka’s peaks. The peaks are svayam-prabhaiḥ (self-luminous), suggesting they emit light rather than just reflecting it. The verse captures the transformation of the atmospheric mood from the cool tones of the sea/sky to the brilliant warmth of gold.

यहाँ आकाश की तुलना 'शस्त्र' (तलवार) से की गई है, क्योंकि दोनों का रंग नीला/श्याम और गुण निर्मल होता है। परन्तु मैनाक के निकलने से वह नीला आकाश 'काञ्चनप्रभम्' (सोने की चमक वाला) हो गया। मैनाक के शिखर 'स्वयंप्रभ' हैं—उनका अपना प्रकाश है। यह श्लोक वातावरण में आए नाटकीय परिवर्तन को दर्शाता है; हनुमान के मार्ग में अचानक एक स्वर्णिम प्रकाश फैल गया है।
