मध्ये लवणतोयस्य विघ्नोऽयमिति निश्चितः ।
स तमुच्छ्रित मत्यर्थं महावेगो महाकपिः ॥ ॥५-१-१०८॥
madhye lavaṇatoyasya vighno'yamiti niścitaḥ । sa tamucchrita matyarthaṃ mahāvego mahākapiḥ ॥ ॥5-1-108॥
Translation
"This is an obstacle in the midst of the salt waters"—deciding thus, that monkey of great speed and great body... (approached/struck) that excessively high mountain.

खारे पानी के समुद्र के बीच में इसे देखकर हनुमान ने निश्चय किया कि "यह कोई विघ्न (रुकावट) है।" तब उस महावेगशाली महाकपि ने उस अत्यंत ऊँचे पर्वत को... (अपनी छाती से धक्का दिया / उसका सामना किया)।
English Commentary
Hanuman interprets the sudden appearance of the mountain through the lens of a warrior: Vighno 'yam ("This is an obstacle"). He does not pause to admire the beauty described in previous verses; he perceives a blockage in the "middle of the salt waters." The epithets mahāvego (great speed) and mahākapiḥ (great monkey) suggest that his momentum is unstoppable. Instead of slowing down, he prepares to deal with this "excessively high" (ucchritam atyartham) barrier with force, illustrating his unwavering focus on Rama's mission.

यह एक महत्वपूर्ण मनोवैज्ञानिक क्षण है। हनुमान जी को यह नहीं पता कि मैनाक मित्र है। युद्ध काल में मार्ग रोकने वाला 'शत्रु' या 'विघ्न' ही समझा जाता है। इसलिए, उन्होंने तुरंत निर्णय लिया—'विघ्नोऽयमिति' (यह विघ्न है)। श्लोक का उत्तरार्ध हनुमान की प्रतिक्रिया की भूमिका है। 'महावेगो'—उनकी गति कम नहीं हुई, बल्कि उन्होंने उस अवरोध को हटाने का मन बना लिया। यह हनुमान जी की एकाग्रता और संकल्प को दर्शाता है—लक्ष्य के आड़े आने वाली हर चीज़ को वे हटाने के लिए तत्पर हैं।
