Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उरसा पातयामास जीमूतमिव मारुतः ।
स तथा पातितस्तेन कपिना पर्वतोत्तमः ॥ ॥५-१-१०९॥
Urasā pātayāmāsa jīmūtamiva mārutaḥ । Sa tathā pātitastena kapinā parvatottamaḥ ◆ ॥5-1-109॥
Translation
Just as the wind pushes away a cloud, Hanumān struck the mountain with his chest. Being struck thus by the monkey, that excellent mountain fell back (was pushed down).
हिंदी अनुवाद
जैसे वायु बादलों को हटा देती है, वैसे ही हनुमान जी ने अपनी छाती से उस पर्वत को धकेल दिया। उस वानर द्वारा इस प्रकार धकेले जाने पर वह श्रेष्ठ पर्वत (मैनाक) नीचे गिर पड़ा (झुक गया)।
English Commentary
This verse vividly illustrates Hanumān's immense strength and unyielding determination. Maināka rose from the ocean to offer rest, but Hanumān initially perceived this sudden obstruction as a barrier to his mission. The simile jīmūtamiva mārutaḥ (like wind pushing a cloud) is particularly poetic, given Hanumān's lineage as the son of Vāyu (the Wind God). Just as the wind cannot be easily arrested by a cloud, Hanumān cannot be stopped by obstacles. His action of pushing the mountain with his chest signifies that for a dedicated devotee on a divine mission, even well-meaning interruptions must be set aside to maintain momentum.

यहाँ हनुमान जी के अतुलनीय बल और उनके संकल्प की दृढ़ता का चित्रण है। मैनाक पर्वत हनुमान जी को विश्राम देने के लिए समुद्र से ऊपर उठा था, किन्तु हनुमान जी ने उसे एक बाधा समझा। 'जीमूतमिव मारुतः' (जैसे वायु बादल को हटाती है) उपमा अत्यंत सार्थक है, क्योंकि हनुमान 'मारुतात्मज' (वायु पुत्र) हैं। जैसे वायु को कोई रोक नहीं सकता, वैसे ही रामकार्य में लगे हनुमान को कोई अवरोध या प्रलोभन रोक नहीं सकता। उन्होंने प्रहार करके पर्वत को गिराया नहीं, अपितु अपने मार्ग से हटा दिया, जो उनकी गति और शक्ति का परिचायक है। यह दर्शाता है कि साधक को लक्ष्य प्राप्ति तक कहीं रुकना नहीं चाहिए।
