राघवस्य कुले जातैरुदधिः परिवर्धितः ।
स त्वां रामहिते युक्तं प्रत्यर्चयति सागरः ॥ ॥५-१-११३॥
Rāghavasya kule jātairudadhiḥ parivardhitaḥ । Sa tvāṃ rāmahite yuktaṃ pratyarcayati sāgaraḥ ◆ ॥5-1-113॥
Translation
The ocean was expanded by those born in the lineage of Rāghava. That same Ocean is honoring you, who are engaged in the welfare of Rāma.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राघव (राम) के कुल में उत्पन्न हुए (सगर के पुत्रों) ने ही इस समुद्र को बढ़ाया था। वही सागर राम के हित में लगे हुए आपका सत्कार कर रहा है।
English Commentary
This verse grounds the interaction in ancient history and the concept of intergenerational debt (rṇa). Maināka explains that the Ocean owes its expansion and very name (Sāgara) to the sons of King Sagara, an ancestor of Rāma. Therefore, the Ocean serves Rāma not just out of kindness, but out of duty to his benefactors' lineage. By honoring Hanumān, who is rāmahite yuktaṃ (engaged in Rāma's welfare), the Ocean is fulfilling an ancient obligation. It underscores the belief that loyalty and gratitude are eternal dharmas that bind generations together.

यह श्लोक कृतज्ञता और ऐतिहासिक संबंधों की गहराई को दर्शाता है। मैनाक स्मरण दिलाते हैं कि इक्ष्वाकु वंश के राजा सागर के पुत्रों ने ही पृथ्वी को खोदकर समुद्र का विस्तार किया था (इसीलिए समुद्र को 'सागर' कहा जाता है)। चूंकि हनुमान जी उसी इक्ष्वाकु वंश के वर्तमान प्रतिनिधि श्री राम का कार्य कर रहे हैं, इसलिए समुद्र स्वयं को राम का ऋणी मानता है। यह श्लोक 'ऋण' और 'धर्म' की भारतीय अवधारणा को स्पष्ट करता है—पूर्वजों का उपकार उनकी संतानों और उनके सेवकों तक मान्य होता है।
