अस्माकमपि सम्बन्धः कपिमुख्य त्वयास्ति वै ।
प्रख्यातस्त्रिषु लोकेषु महागुणपरिग्रहः ॥ ॥५-१-११८॥
Asmākamapi sambandhaḥ kapimukhya tvayāsti vai । Prakhyātastriṣu lokeṣu mahāguṇaparigrahaḥ ◆ ॥5-1-118॥
Translation
O chief of monkeys! We also indeed have a connection with you, which is famous in the three worlds and characterized by great virtues.

हे कपिमुख्य! आपके साथ हमारा भी सम्बन्ध है, जो तीनों लोकों में विख्यात है और महान गुणों से युक्त है।
English Commentary
Having presented the Ocean's case, Maināka now introduces his own personal stake. He asserts a sambandhaḥ (relationship) with Hanumān. This relationship is described as prakhyātaḥ (famous) and based on great virtues. This foreshadows the story of how Vāyu (the Wind God, Hanumān's father) saved Maināka. By invoking a familial bond, Maināka elevates the interaction from a transaction between strangers to a reunion of kinsmen. It serves to deepen the emotional obligation for Hanumān to accept the service.

अब मैनाक समुद्र के ऋण के बाद अपना व्यक्तिगत संबंध (Personal Connection) बताते हैं। 'अस्माकमपि' (हमारा भी) से तात्पर्य है कि केवल समुद्र का ही नहीं, मेरा भी आपसे रिश्ता है। यह संबंध 'महागुणपरिग्रहः' है—अर्थात यह केवल परिचय नहीं, बल्कि गुणों और उपकार पर आधारित है। मैनाक यहाँ भूमिका बाँध रहे हैं ताकि वे बता सकें कि वे हनुमान जी के पिता वायुदेव के ऋणी हैं। जब कोई अपनापन या पुराना नाता बताता है, तो अतिथि के लिए आतिथ्य अस्वीकार करना कठिन हो जाता है।
