अस्मिन्लवणतोये च प्रक्षिप्तः प्लवगोत्तम ।
गुप्तपक्षसमग्रश्च तव पित्राभिरक्षितः ॥ ॥५-१-१२७॥
Asminlavaṇatoye ca prakṣiptaḥ plavagottama । Guptapakṣasamagraśca tava pitrābhirakṣitaḥ ॥ ॥5-1-127॥
Translation
O best of monkeys! I was thrown into this salt ocean by your father. My wings remained hidden, and I was thus preserved (intact).

हे वानरश्रेष्ठ! तुम्हारे पिता ने मुझे इस खारे पानी (समुद्र) में फेंक दिया था, जिससे मेरे पंख छिपे रहे और मैं (अक्षत अंगों वाला होकर) बच गया।
English Commentary
Maināka explains the outcome of Vāyu's intervention. By being blown into the Lavaṇatoya (Salt Ocean), Maināka was submerged. Since his wings were hidden underwater (guptapakṣa), Indra did not cut them. Thus, he retained his wholeness (samagra). He explicitly credits this preservation to Hanumān's father (tava pitrā abhirakṣitaḥ). This survival story creates a binding obligation on Maināka to serve Vāyu's lineage. He is not just a mountain; he is a testament to Vāyu's benevolence.

वायुदेव ने मैनाक को समुद्र में गिरा दिया। समुद्र में गिरने के कारण मैनाक के पंख जल के भीतर छिप गए और इन्द्र का वज्र उन पर नहीं चला। 'गुप्तपक्ष' का अर्थ है जिसके पंख सुरक्षित और गुप्त रहे। इस प्रकार मैनाक एकमात्र ऐसे पर्वत बचे (या गिने-चुने पर्वतों में से) जिसके पंख अब भी सुरक्षित हैं। यह प्राणरक्षा और अंगरक्षा दोनों थी। 'तव पित्राभिरक्षितः'—तुम्हारे पिता द्वारा रक्षित—यह वाक्य हनुमान जी के प्रति मैनाक के समर्पण का मूल कारण है।
