तेन पादपमुक्तेन पुष्पौघेन सुगन्धिना ।
सर्वतः संवृतः शैलो बभौ पुष्पमयो यथा ॥५-१-१३॥
tena pādapamuktena puṣpaughena sugandhinā |
sarvataḥ saṃvṛtaḥ śailo babhau puṣpamayo yathā ॥5-1-13॥
Translation
Covered on all sides by that heap of fragrant flowers released by the trees, the mountain shone as if it were made entirely of flowers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वृक्षों से गिरे हुए उस सुगंधित पुष्प-समूह से सब ओर से ढका हुआ वह पर्वत ऐसा सुशोभित हुआ, मानो वह (पत्थरों का न होकर) फूलों का ही बना हो।
English Commentary
This verse presents a striking transformation of the landscape. The sheer kinetic force exerted by Hanuman shakes the trees, causing a cascade of blossoms ('Pushpaughena' - flood of flowers). The imagery transforms the rugged, stony Mahendra mountain into a soft, floral entity ('Pushpamayo'). It serves as a poetic paradox: the violence of the tremor produces a scene of serene beauty. Philosophically, this can be interpreted as nature's involuntary homage to the hero. Even as the mountain groans under the weight, it is dressed in fragrance and beauty, suggesting that the path of Dharma, though arduous and shaking to the foundations, ultimately leads to beauty and auspiciousness.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक भayanक रस और अद्भुत रस के बीच का सेतु है। एक ओर हनुमान जी के दबाव से पर्वत कांप रहा है, तो दूसरी ओर उस कंपन के कारण वृक्षों से जो फूल गिरे, उन्होंने कठोर पत्थरों को ढक लिया है। वाल्मीकि जी की यह कल्पना अत्यंत रमणीय है कि एक कठोर, पथरीला पर्वत क्षण भर के लिए 'पुष्पमय' (फूलों से बना) प्रतीत होने लगा। यह दृश्य हनुमान जी के कार्य की शुभता का प्रतीक है। यद्यपि वे विध्वंसक शक्ति का प्रयोग कर रहे हैं, तथापि उसका परिणाम मंगलकारी है। प्रकृति मानो अपने कोमलतम रूप (पुष्प) से उस वीर का अभिषेक कर रही है जो धर्म की रक्षा के लिए प्रस्थान कर रहा है।
