Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उवाच वचनं धीमान् परितोषात्सगद्गदम् ।
सुनाभं पर्वतश्रेष्ठं स्वयमेव शचीपतिः ॥ ॥५-१-१३९॥
Uvāca vacanaṃ dhīmān paritoṣātsagadgadam । Sunābhaṃ parvataśreṣṭhaṃ svayameva śacīpatiḥ ॥ ॥5-1-139॥
Translation
The wise Lord of Śacī (Indra) himself spoke words to Sunābha, the best of mountains, with a voice faltering due to extreme satisfaction.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बुद्धिमान शचीपति (इन्द्र) ने अत्यंत संतोष के कारण गद्गद वाणी में पर्वतश्रेष्ठ सुनाभ (मैनाक) से स्वयं यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Indra's reaction is deeply emotional. He speaks sa-gadgadam (with a faltering/choking voice), a sign of overwhelming emotion and satisfaction (paritoṣa). It is significant that the Lord of Śacī speaks svayam eva (personally and voluntarily), bridging the gap between the King of Gods and a subordinate mountain. Indra is called dhīmān (wise); his wisdom allows him to recognize merit even in a race (mountains) he once punished. He validates Maināka's action as noble.

इन्द्र का 'स्वयमेव' (स्वयं ही) बोलना मैनाक के लिए बहुत बड़ा सम्मान है। इन्द्र 'सगद्गदम्' (गद्गद वाणी) हो गए—अर्थात वे भावविभोर हो गए। एक राजा का अपने पुराने विरोधी (पर्वत कुल) के प्रति इतना भावुक होना दुर्लभ है। इन्द्र को 'धीमान्' (बुद्धिमान) कहा गया है, क्योंकि वे जानते हैं कि कब दंड देना है और कब पुरस्कृत करना है। मैनाक की रामभक्ति ने इन्द्र का हृदय जीत लिया।
