Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मम भक्षः प्रदिष्टस्त्वमीश्वरैर्वानरर्षभ ।
अहं त्वा भक्षयिष्यामि प्रविशेदं ममाननम् ॥ ॥५-१-१५१॥
mama bhakṣaḥ pradiṣṭastvamīśvarairvānararṣabha |
ahaṃ tvā bhakṣayiṣyāmi praviśedaṃ mamānanam ॥5-1-151॥
Translation
"O best of Vanaras, you have been ordained as my food by the Gods. I will eat you; enter this mouth of mine."

"हे वानरश्रेष्ठ! देवताओं ने तुम्हें मेरा भोजन निर्दिष्ट किया है। मैं तुम्हें खाऊंगी; मेरे इस मुख में प्रवेश करो।"
English Commentary
Surasa presents her threat not as an act of aggression, but as a divine entitlement. She claims Hanuman has been pradiṣṭaḥ (allotted/ordained) as her food by the īśvaraiḥ (lords/gods). This creates a complex dilemma for Hanuman: resisting her might be construed as defying the will of the gods. This is a test of Dharma (duty) as much as strength. Does one's immediate mission (serving Rama) supersede a general divine boon given to another? By commanding him to enter her mouth, she leaves no room for evasion, forcing Hanuman to address the issue directly.

सुरसा अपनी मांग रखती हैं, लेकिन इसमें एक नैतिक पेंच फंसाती हैं। वह कहती हैं कि यह उनका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय नहीं, बल्कि 'ईश्वरैः' (देवताओं/ईश्वरों) का वरदान या आदेश है। यह कहकर वह हनुमान जी को धर्मसंकट में डाल देती हैं। यदि हनुमान जी लड़ते हैं, तो वे देवताओं के वरदान का अपमान करेंगे, और यदि समर्पण करते हैं, तो राम-काज अधूरा रह जाएगा। वह हनुमान जी को 'वानरर्षभ' (वानरों में श्रेष्ठ) कहकर संबोधित करती हैं, जो व्यंग्य और चुनौती दोनों हो सकता है। "मेरे मुख में प्रवेश करो" कहना, हनुमान जी के साहस को ललकारना था।
