एवमुक्तः सुरसया प्राञ्जलिर्वानरर्षभः ।
प्रहृष्टवदनः श्रीमानिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥ ॥५-१-१५२॥
evamuktaḥ surasayā prāñjalirvānararṣabhaḥ |
prahṛṣṭavadanaḥ śrīmānidaṃ vacanamabravīt ॥5-1-152॥
Translation
Thus addressed by Surasa, the glorious best of Vanaras, with joined palms and a cheerful face, spoke these words.

सुरसा द्वारा ऐसा कहे जाने पर, शोभायमान वानरश्रेष्ठ हनुमान जी ने हाथ जोड़कर और प्रसन्न मुख से यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Hanuman's reaction to a death threat is the highlight of this verse. Instead of drawing a weapon or showing anger, he stands prāñjaliḥ (with folded hands) and prahṛṣṭavadanaḥ (with a cheerful/delighted face). This composure is the mark of a supreme yogi and a confident hero. He respects Surasa's age and status (as Nagamata) despite her threatening posture. This demonstrates that true strength lies in controlling one's emotional reaction to external threats. By choosing a respectful demeanor, he disarms the aggression of the situation, preparing to use diplomacy (Sama) before other means.

भयानक मृत्यु सामने खड़ी होने पर भी हनुमान जी की प्रतिक्रिया अद्भुत है। वे क्रोधित या भयभीत नहीं होते, बल्कि 'प्रहृष्टवदनः' (प्रसन्न मुख) रहते हैं। यह स्थितप्रज्ञता का लक्षण है। उन्होंने 'प्राञ्जलिः' (हाथ जोड़कर) सुरसा को नमन किया, जो उनकी विनम्रता और शिष्टाचार को दर्शाता है। शत्रु या बाधा के प्रति भी सम्मान रखना हनुमान जी का चरित्र है। उनका 'श्रीमान' विशेषण यहाँ उपयुक्त है क्योंकि विपत्ति में धैर्य और मुस्कान बनाए रखना ही वास्तविक श्री (शोभा) है। उन्होंने युद्ध के बजाय संवाद का मार्ग चुना।
