प्रदृश्यमानः सर्वत्र हनुमान्मारुतात्मजः ।
बीज मन घन सह आकाश का आश्रय उसी प्रकार लिया, जैसे पंखों से युक्त पर्वतों का राजा (मैनाक) लेता है।

Pradṛśyamānaḥ sarvatra Hanumānmārutātmajaḥ |
Bheje'mbaraṃ nirālambaṃ lambapakṣa ivādrirāṭ ॥5-1-181॥
Translation
Being clearly visible everywhere, Hanuman, the son of the Wind-god, took to the unsupported sky just as the King of Mountains (Mainaka) would if endowed with long wings.

सर्वत्र स्पष्ट दिखाई देने वाले, वायुपुत्र हनुमान ने आधाररहित आकाश का आश्रय उसी प्रकार लिया, जैसे पंखों से युक्त पर्वतों का राजा (मैनाक) लेता है।
English Commentary
After acknowledging Mainaka's hospitality, Hanuman resumes his flight. The imagery used here compares him to the 'King of Mountains with wings.' This alludes to the Vedic mythology where mountains originally had wings before Indra clipped them. By describing the sky as niralambam (prop-less or unsupported), the poet emphasizes that Hanuman is now venturing into a zone where physical support is absent. He relies entirely on his yogic powers and strength. The visual created is one of massive stability (mountain) moving with dynamic speed (wings) through the void.

मैनाक पर्वत से विदा लेने के पश्चात हनुमान जी ने पुनः अपनी यात्रा आरंभ की। यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी ने हनुमान जी की तुलना 'लम्बपक्ष' (लंबे पंखों वाले) पर्वतराज से की है। प्राचीन आख्यानों के अनुसार पूर्व में पर्वतों के पंख होते थे। यह उपमा हनुमान जी के विशाल आकार और उनकी उड़ान की भव्यता को दर्शाती है। 'निरालम्बं' शब्द का प्रयोग यह स्पष्ट करता है कि अब समुद्र के बीच उन्हें कोई भौतिक आधार प्राप्त नहीं था; उनका एकमात्र आश्रय उनका आत्मबल और वायुदेव का अनुग्रह था। यह श्लोक हनुमान जी के संकल्प और उनकी अबाध गति का परिचायक है।
