धृतिर्दृष्टिर्मतिर्दाक्ष्यं स कर्मसु न सीदति ।
स तैः संभावितः पूज्यः प्रतिपन्नप्रयोजनः ॥ ॥५-१-१९९॥
dhṛtirdṛṣṭirmatirdākṣyaṃ sa karmasu na sīdati । sa taiḥ saṃbhāvitaḥ pūjyaḥ pratipannaprayojanaḥ ॥ ॥5-1-199॥
Translation
"...Fortitude, vision, intellect, and skill—he who has these does not fail in his undertakings." Being thus honored and revered by them, he proceeded towards his objective.

"...धैर्य, दूरदृष्टि, बुद्धि और दक्षता—(जिसमें ये चार होते हैं), वह कार्यों में कभी असफल नहीं होता।" उन (आकाशचारी भूतों) द्वारा इस प्रकार सम्मानित और पूजित होकर हनुमान जी अपने लक्ष्य की ओर अग्रसर हुए।
English Commentary
This is a celebrated aphorism (Subhashita) defining the requisites for success in any endeavor. It lists the four cardinal virtues of a leader or executor: Dhṛti (steadfastness/morale), Dṛṣṭi (foresight/vision), Mati (sharp intellect/strategy), and Dākṣyam (dexterity/skill in execution). The text asserts that possessing these guarantees that one "does not sink" (na sīdati) or fail in their tasks. Hanuman is honored (saṃbhāvitaḥ) by the celestials specifically because he embodies this synthesis of mental, intellectual, and practical capabilities.

यह वाल्मीकि रामायण के सर्वाधिक प्रसिद्ध श्लोकों में से एक है। सफलता के चार स्तंभ बताए गए हैं: 1. धृति (Dhriti): कठिन समय में धैर्य न खोना। 2. दृष्टि (Drishti): शास्त्र-ज्ञान और भविष्य के परिणामों को देखने की क्षमता। 3. मति (Mati): समय पर सही निर्णय लेने वाली बुद्धि। 4. दाक्ष्यं (Dakshyam): कार्य करने की कुशलता। हनुमान जी में ये चारों पूर्णता में विद्यमान हैं। 'न सीदति' का अर्थ है कि ऐसा व्यक्ति कभी विषाद (depression) या असफलता को प्राप्त नहीं होता।
