Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पुनः प्रकृतिमापेदे वीतमोह इवात्मवान् ।
तद्रूपमतिसंक्षिप्य हनुमान् प्रकृतौ स्थितः ॥ ॥५-१-२०६॥
punaḥ prakṛtimāpede vītamoha ivātmavān । tadrūpam atisaṃkṣipya hanumān prakṛtau sthitaḥ ॥ ॥5-1-206॥
Translation
Just as a self-realized soul returns to their true nature having dispelled delusion, Hanuman, having greatly contracted that form, returned to his natural state.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जिस प्रकार एक आत्मज्ञानी पुरुष मोह से मुक्त होकर अपने शुद्ध स्वरूप को प्राप्त हो जाता है, उसी प्रकार हनुमान जी अपने उस (विशाल) रूप को अत्यंत संकुचित करके अपनी स्वाभाविक (वानर) प्रकृति में स्थित हो गए।
English Commentary
This verse offers a profound spiritual metaphor alongside the physical action. The contraction of Hanuman's body is likened to an Ātmavān (self-realized soul) shedding Moha (delusion) to abide in their true nature (Prakṛti). It suggests that the grandiose form, while necessary for the crossing, was a temporary projection, much like the ego in Vedanta. Returning to his natural size signifies grounding and clarity. It emphasizes that Hanuman is not attached to his power or size; he uses them as needed and discards them without hesitation to remain focused on the task.

यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी ने एक अत्यंत गूढ़ दार्शनिक उपमा (Philosophical Simile) का प्रयोग किया है। हनुमान जी के विशाल रूप त्यागने की तुलना 'वीतमोह' (मोह-मुक्त) व्यक्ति से की गई है। जैसे अज्ञान के कारण जीव को अपना विस्तार (संसार) सत्य लगता है, किन्तु ज्ञान होने पर वह अपने मूल स्वरूप (आत्मा) में स्थित हो जाता है, वैसे ही हनुमान जी ने कृत्रिम विशालता त्याग कर अपना सहज रूप धारण किया। यह दर्शाता है कि उनका विशाल रूप केवल एक साधन (Tool) था, उनकी पहचान नहीं। 'प्रकृतौ स्थितः' का अर्थ है—सहज और सामान्य हो जाना।
