पानभूमिगतं हित्वा हैममासवभाजनम् ।
पात्रणि च महार्हाणि करकांश्च हिरण्मयान् ॥५-१-२३॥
pānabhūmigataṃ hitvā haimamāsavabhājanam |
pātraṇi ca mahārhāṇi karakāṃśca hiraṇmayān ॥5-1-23॥
Translation
They abandoned the gold wine-vessels kept in the drinking grounds, along with priceless bowls and golden pitchers.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे (विद्याधर) अपनी पान-भूमि (मदिरापान के स्थान) में रखे हुए सोने के आसव (मदिरा) के घड़ों, बहुमूल्य पात्रों और सोने की झारियों (सुराहियों) को छोड़कर (भाग गए)।
English Commentary
This verse provides a snapshot of the hedonistic lifestyle of the Vidyadharas, interrupted by the chaos. They leave behind a scene of interrupted leisure: 'Panabhumi' (drinking grounds). The objects listed—golden wine vessels ('haimam asavabhajanam'), priceless bowls, and golden ewers ('karakan')—paint a picture of opulence. The act of abandoning such wealth ('Hitva') underscores the sheer terror of the moment. It contrasts the luxury of the residents with the ascetic severity and raw power of Hanuman.
