एष पर्वतसंकाशो हनूमान् मारुतात्मजः ।
तितीर्षति महावेगः समुद्रं मकरालयम् ॥५-१-२९॥
eṣa parvatasaṃkāśo hanūmān mārutātmajaḥ |
titīrṣati mahāvegaḥ samudraṃ makarālayam ॥5-1-29॥
Translation
"This Hanuman, the son of the Wind-god, resembling a mountain and possessing great speed, wishes to cross the ocean, the abode of crocodiles/sea-monsters."

"ये पर्वत के समान आकार वाले, महान वेग वाले पवनपुत्र हनुमान हैं, जो मकरों (जल-जंतुओं) के घर समुद्र को तैरकर पार करना चाहते हैं।"
English Commentary
This verse serves as a formal announcement of the protagonist's intent. The celestial observers identify him by his lineage ('Marutatvajah' - son of Wind) and his scale ('Parvatasankasho' - looking like a mountain). The ocean is not just water here; it is 'Makaralayam,' the abode of Makaras (mythical sea monsters), emphasizing the peril involved. The juxtaposition of a mountain-like hero attempting to cross a monster-infested ocean sets the stage for a clash of titanic forces. The phrase 'Mahavegah' (of great speed) anticipates the velocity required for the leap.
