रामार्थं वानरार्थं च चिकीर्षन् कर्मदुष्करम् ।
समुद्रस्य परं पारं दुष्प्रापं प्राप्तुमिच्छति ॥५-१-३०॥
rāmārthaṃ vānarārthaṃ ca cikīrṣan karmaduṣkaram |
samudrasya paraṃ pāraṃ duṣprāpaṃ prāptumicchati ॥5-1-30॥
Translation
"Wishing to perform a difficult deed for the sake of Rama and the Vanaras, he desires to reach the other shore of the ocean, which is hard to access."

"श्री राम के कार्य के लिए और वानरों (के प्राणों की रक्षा) के लिए, यह दुष्कर (कठिन) कर्म करने की इच्छा करते हुए, ये समुद्र के उस पार—जहाँ पहुँचना अत्यंत कठिन है—जाना चाहते हैं।"
English Commentary
The motive behind the monumental effort is clarified: it is selfless service. 'Ramartham' (for Rama's sake) and 'Vanarartham' (for the Vanaras' sake) highlights Hanuman as the ultimate Karma Yogi. He is undertaking this 'Dushkaram' (difficult to do) deed to save his community and serve his Lord. The repetition of difficulty—'Dushkaram' (hard to do) and 'Dushprapam' (hard to reach)—underlines the near-impossible nature of the mission, elevating the heroism of the attempt.

यहाँ हनुमान जी के उद्देश्य (Purpose) को स्पष्ट किया गया है। यह शक्ति प्रदर्शन अहंकार के लिए नहीं, अपितु 'रामार्थं' (राम के लिए) और 'वानरार्थं' (वानरों के लिए) है। यदि वे सीता को नहीं खोज पाए, तो सभी वानर प्राण त्याग देंगे, इसलिए यह वानरों के लिए भी है। कार्य को 'कर्मदुष्करम्' (अत्यंत कठिन कर्म) और गंतव्य को 'दुष्प्रापं' (जहाँ पहुंचना कठिन है) कहा गया है। यह सिद्धों द्वारा दी गई 'साक्षी' (testimony) है कि हनुमान जी का यह प्रयास धर्मसम्मत और परोपकार के लिए है।
