न हि द्रक्ष्यामि यदि तां लङ्कायां जनकात्मजाम् ।
अनेनैव हि वेगेन गमिष्यामि सुरालयम् ॥ ॥५-१-४०॥
na hi drakṣyāmi yadi tāṃ laṅkāyāṃ janakātmajām |
anenaiva hi vegena gamiṣyāmi surālayam ॥5-1-40॥
Translation
If I do not see that daughter of Janaka (Sita) in Lanka, I will go to the abode of the Gods (Heaven) with this very same speed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि मैं जनकनन्दिनी सीता को लंका में नहीं देख सकूंगा, तो इसी वेग से मैं देवलोक (स्वर्ग) चला जाऊंगा।
English Commentary
This verse marks the beginning of Hanuman's Sankalpa (vow) of determination. He outlines his contingency plans. He is not merely hoping to find Sita; he is determined to search the entire cosmos. If she is not in Lanka, he assumes she might have been taken elsewhere or ascended, so he is prepared to storm Heaven (Suralayam) with the same velocity. This hyperbolic declaration underscores that his mission is boundless and his energy reserves are inexhaustible. He refuses to return empty-handed.

यह श्लोक और अगले कुछ श्लोक हनुमान जी के 'संकल्प' की दृढ़ता को दिखाते हैं। वे केवल लंका जाने की योजना नहीं बना रहे, बल्कि हर संभावना (contingency) के लिए तैयार हैं। यदि सीता पृथ्वी पर नहीं हैं, तो वे स्वर्ग (सुरालय) जाकर भी उन्हें खोजेंगे। 'अनेनैव हि वेगेन' (इसी वेग से) दर्शाता है कि उनकी ऊर्जा लंका पहुँचने पर समाप्त नहीं होगी, बल्कि उनके पास इससे कहीं अधिक शक्ति शेष रहेगी। यह एक भक्त का संकल्प है जो परिणाम प्राप्त किए बिना रुकने को तैयार नहीं है।
