समुत्पतति तस्मिंस्तु वेगात्ते नगरोहिणः ।
संहृत्य विटपान् सर्वान् समुत्पेतुः समन्ततः ॥ ॥५-१-४५॥
samutpatati tasmiṃstu vegātte nagarohiṇaḥ |
saṃhṛtya viṭapān sarvān samutpetuḥ samantataḥ ॥5-1-45॥
Translation
As he flew up, due to his speed, the trees growing on the mountain folded their branches and flew up along with him from all sides.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब वे (हनुमान) ऊपर उछले, तो उनके वेग के कारण पर्वत पर उगने वाले वृक्ष अपनी सब शाखाओं को समेटकर चारों ओर से (उनके साथ) ऊपर उड़ चले।
English Commentary
Valmiki describes the sheer physical force of the leap. The phrase samutpetuḥ (flew up together) indicates the massive updraft and suction caused by Hanuman’s velocity. Scientifically, this describes the drag force where the wake of a massive, high-speed object pulls lighter objects along with it. The trees appearing to "fold their branches" (saṃhṛtya viṭapān) gives them a personified, bird-like quality, as if they too are streamlining themselves for flight in Hanuman's wake.

यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी भौतिक विज्ञान (Physics) का एक अद्भुत दृश्य प्रस्तुत करते हैं। जब कोई वस्तु अत्यंत तीव्र गति से आगे बढ़ती है, तो उसके पीछे एक निर्वात (vacuum/suction) और वायु का प्रवाह (drag) बनता है। हनुमान जी का वेग इतना अधिक था कि आस-पास के वृक्ष उखड़ गए और उस वायु प्रवाह में खिंचकर उनके साथ ऊपर उठने लगे। 'संहृत्य विटपान्' (शाखाओं को सिकोड़कर) का चित्रण ऐसा है जैसे वृक्ष भी उड़ने के लिए अपने पंख (शाखाएं) सिकोड़ रहे हों।
