सुपुष्पिताग्रैर्बहुभिः पादपैरन्वितः कपिः ।
हनुमान् पर्वताकारो बभूवाद्भुतदर्शनः ॥ ॥५-१-४९॥
supuṣpitāgrairbahubhiḥ pādapairanvitaḥ kapiḥ |
hanumān parvatākāro babhūvādbhutadarśanaḥ ॥5-1-49॥
Translation
Surrounded by numerous trees with blossoming tips, the mountain-sized Hanuman looked truly wonderful and awe-inspiring at that moment.

सुंदर फूलों से लदे हुए अनेक वृक्षों से घिरे हुए पर्वताकार हनुमान जी उस समय अत्यंत अद्भुत दिखाई दे रहे थे।
English Commentary
Valmiki employs vivid imagery here to describe the sheer magnitude of Hanuman’s leap. As he surged into the sky, the draft created by his speed uprooted trees, which were caught in his wake. Surrounded by these blossoming trees, the colossal Hanuman appeared not just as a warrior, but as a flying mountain himself. This verse invokes Adbhuta Rasa (the sentiment of wonder). The imagery suggests that Hanuman is so powerful that he carries his environment with him. It parallels the ancient descriptions of mountains that once had wings. The description of trees 'following' him also adds a layer of natural majesty to his character, suggesting that nature itself is accompanying him on this divine mission.

यहाँ महर्षि वाल्मीकि हनुमान जी के विराट और अद्भुत स्वरूप का चित्रण कर रहे हैं। जब हनुमान जी ने महेंद्र पर्वत से छलांग लगाई, तो उनके वेग से उखड़े हुए अनेक वृक्ष उनके साथ आकाश में उड़ने लगे। कवि कहते हैं कि उन पुष्पित वृक्षों के बीच उड़ते हुए हनुमान जी स्वयं एक उड़ते हुए पर्वत के समान प्रतीत हो रहे थे। यह दृश्य 'अद्भुत रस' की निष्पत्ति करता है। वृक्षों का साथ-साथ उड़ना हनुमान जी के अतिमानवीय वेग और शक्ति का परिचायक है। जैसे कोई राजा अपनी सेना और शोभायात्रा के साथ चलता है, वैसे ही हनुमान जी प्रकृति की शोभा (पुष्पित वृक्षों) को अपने साथ लेकर गगनमार्ग में विचरण कर रहे हैं। यह श्लोक प्रकृति और वानर वीर के बीच के सामंजस्य और हनुमान जी के विराट व्यक्तित्व को रेखांकित करता है।
