पिपासुरिव चाकाशं ददृशे स महाकपिः ।
तस्य विद्युत्प्रभाकारे वायुमार्गानुसारिणः ॥ ॥५-१-५८॥
pipāsuriva cākāśaṃ dadṛśe sa mahākapiḥ |
tasya vidyutprabhākāre vāyumārgānusāriṇaḥ ॥5-1-58॥
Translation
Following the path of the wind, that great Vanara appeared as if he wished to drink up the sky itself. His eyes shone with the brilliance of lightning.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वायुमार्ग (आकाश) का अनुसरण करने वाले उस महाकपि (हनुमान) की आँखें बिजली की चमक के समान थीं। वे ऐसे दिखाई दे रहे थे मानो आकाश को ही पी जाना चाहते हों।
English Commentary
The imagery of consuming the elements continues. Here, Hanuman appears thirsty (pipāsu) for the sky itself. This metaphor signifies his ambition to conquer the vast distance; the sky is not a limit but something he consumes with his speed. The description of his eyes resembling lightning (vidyutprabhākāre) adds to the intensity of his face. As he travels the path of the wind (vāyumārgānusāriṇaḥ), he embodies the elemental power of his father, Vayu. The verse constructs an image of a being who is elemental, fierce, and unstoppable.
हिंदी टीका
हनुमान जी की 'जिजीविषा' और लक्ष्य के प्रति उनकी भूख को यहाँ 'पिपासु' (प्यासा) शब्द से व्यक्त किया गया है। पहले समुद्र को पीने की बात थी, अब आकाश को पीने की बात है। यह उनके विराट स्वरूप और अनंत ऊर्जा का परिचायक है। वह आकाश को निगलने की क्षमता रखते हैं। उनकी आँखों की तुलना 'विद्युत' (बिजली) से की गई है, जो उनकी दृष्टि की तीक्ष्णता और तेज को दर्शाती है। 'वायुमार्गानुसारिणः' उन्हें अपने पिता वायु के पथ का अनुगामी बताता है, जिससे यह ध्वनित होता है कि उन्हें आकाश में कोई बाधा नहीं रोक सकती।
