यं यं देशं समुद्रस्य जगाम स महाकपिः ।
स स तस्योरुवेगेन सोन्माद इव लक्ष्यते ॥ ॥५-१-६८॥
yaṃ yaṃ deśaṃ samudrasya jagāma sa mahākapiḥ |
sa sa tasyoruvegena sonmāda iva lakṣyate ॥5-1-68॥
Translation
Whichever part of the ocean the great monkey passed over, that part appeared to be agitated/maddened due to the speed (wind) generated by his thighs.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह महाकपि समुद्र के जिस-जिस भाग के ऊपर से गुजरे, वह-वह भाग उनकी जांघों के वेग (से उत्पन्न हवा) के कारण उन्मत्त (पागल) सा दिखाई देने लगा।
English Commentary
This verse describes the hydrodynamic and aerodynamic impact of Hanuman's flight. As he flew, the sheer force and displacement of air caused by his thighs (uruvegena) struck the water below. The ocean is personified here; the turbulent, churning water is described as sonmāda (having madness/hysteria). It signifies that the tranquil ocean was thrown into chaos solely by the draft of Hanuman's passage.

हनुमान जी की उड़ान का समुद्र पर क्या प्रभाव पड़ रहा है, यह यहाँ बताया गया है। 'उरुवेगेन' (जांघों के वेग से) उत्पन्न हवा ने समुद्र के जल को अस्थिर कर दिया। 'सोन्माद' (उन्माद सहित) शब्द का प्रयोग बहुत ही सार्थक है। पानी का उथल-पुथल होना, लहरों का टकराना और भंवर बनना—यह सब देखकर ऐसा लग रहा था मानो समुद्र पागल हो गया हो। यह हनुमान जी की शक्ति का परिचायक है कि उनकी मात्र उपस्थिति (उड़ान) से ही विशाल समुद्र भी विचलित हो गया।
