कपिवातश्च बलवान् मेघवातश्च निःसृतः ।
सागरं भीमनिर्घोषं कम्पयामासतुर्भृशम् ॥ ॥५-१-७०॥
kapivātaśca balavān meghavātaśca niḥsṛtaḥ |
sāgaraṃ bhīmanirghoṣaṃ kampayāmāsaturbhṛśam ॥5-1-70॥
Translation
The powerful wind generated by the monkey and the wind emerging from the clouds—both together shook the ocean violently, causing a terrifying roar.

वानर (हनुमान) के वेग से उत्पन्न शक्तिशाली हवा और बादलों से निकली हुई हवा—इन दोनों ने मिलकर भयानक गर्जना वाले समुद्र को बहुत जोर से कंपित कर दिया।
English Commentary
This verse attributes the turbulence in the ocean to two forces combined: kapivāta (the slipstream/wind created by Hanuman) and meghavāta (the natural atmospheric wind). Together, they caused the ocean, already roaring terribly (bhīmanirghoṣaṃ), to tremble or vibrate violently (kampayāmāsatuḥ). This emphasizes that Hanuman’s flight was a meteorological event, creating a storm-like disturbance over the deep waters.

यहाँ दो प्रकार की वायु का संगम बताया गया है—'कपिवात' (हनुमान जी की गति से बनी हवा) और 'मेघवात' (प्राकृतिक रूप से बादलों/वातावरण की हवा)। इन दोनों के मिलने से समुद्र में भारी हलचल मच गई। 'कम्पयामासतुः' (कांपने लगा/हिला दिया) क्रिया द्विवचन में है, जो बताती है कि दोनों हवाओं ने मिलकर यह काम किया। समुद्र की 'भीमनिर्घोष' (भयानक आवाज) इस उथल-पुथल की गवाही दे रही है। यह श्लोक वातावरण की अशांति और हनुमान जी के प्रभाव को रेखांकित करता है।
