विकर्षन्नूर्मिजालानि बृहन्ति लवणाम्भसि ।
पुप्लुवे कपिशार्दूलो विकिरन्निव रोदसी ॥ ॥५-१-७१॥
vikarṣannūrmijālāni bṛhanti lavaṇāmbhasi |
pupluve kapiśārdūlo vikiranniva rodasī ॥5-1-71॥
Translation
Dragging huge networks of waves in the salty ocean (by his speed), that tiger among monkeys flew on as if scattering the sky and earth.

लवण समुद्र में उठती हुई बड़ी-बड़ी लहरों के समूह को (अपने वेग से) खींचते हुए, वे वानरश्रेष्ठ (कपि-शार्दूल) आकाश और पृथ्वी को बिखेरते हुए से उड़ रहे थे।
English Commentary
The physics of the flight is further detailed. Vikarṣan implies dragging or pulling; Hanuman’s wake is so powerful that it pulls the massive waves along with him or upwards. He is called kapiśārdūla (tiger among monkeys), denoting supremacy. The phrase vikiranniva rodasī is poetic hyperbole: it looks as if he is scattering or tossing apart the two worlds—heaven and earth (rodasī)—mixing the spray of the ocean with the clouds of the sky in a chaotic blend.

'विकर्षन्' (खींचते हुए) शब्द बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है। हनुमान जी का वेग इतना है कि उनके पीछे एक निर्वात (vacuum) या खिंचाव बन रहा है, जो नीचे की लहरों को ऊपर की ओर या अपने साथ खींच रहा है। 'कपि-शार्दूल' (वानरों में बाघ) उनकी आक्रामकता का प्रतीक है। 'विकिरन्निव रोदसी' (मानो आकाश और पृथ्वी को बिखेर रहे हों) एक उत्प्रेक्षा है। इसका अर्थ है कि उनकी गति से दिशाएं, बादल और लहरें सब अस्त-व्यस्त हो गए थे, मानो वे ब्रह्मांड की व्यवस्था को ही बिखेर रहे हों।
