श्वेताभ्रघनराजीव वायुपुत्रानुगामिनी ।
तस्य सा शुशुभे छाया वितता लवणाम्भसि ॥ ॥५-१-७७॥
śvetābhraghanarājīva vāyuputrānugāminī । tasya sā śuśubhe chāyā vitatā lavaṇāmbhasi ॥ ॥5-1-77॥
Translation
Trailing the Son of the Wind, his shadow extended over the salt ocean shone like a dense row of white clouds.

लवण-समुद्र पर फैली हुई और वायुपुत्र के पीछे-पीछे चलती हुई उनकी वह छाया श्वेत बादलों की घनी पंक्ति के समान सुशोभित हो रही थी।
English Commentary
There is an interesting poetic nuance here. Shadows are inherently dark, yet the verse compares Hanuman’s shadow to a "dense row of white clouds." Commentators often interpret this as the visual effect of the shadow moving over the churning, foamy waves of the ocean. As the shadow races across the water, the disturbance creates white foam, or perhaps the contrast of the dark shadow against the shimmering water creates a cloud-like band. It emphasizes the connection between the flyer (Hanuman) and the surface below, visually linking the sky and the sea.

यहाँ पुनः एक विरोधाभासी और सुंदर उपमा है। छाया सामान्यतः काली होती है, परन्तु यहाँ उसे 'श्वेत बादलों की पंक्ति' (श्वेताभ्रघनराजी) के समान कहा गया है। इसके दो अर्थ हो सकते हैं: या तो हनुमान जी का रूप इतना उज्ज्वल था कि उसकी 'छाया' या प्रतिबिंब भी चमक रहा था, या फिर उनके वेग के कारण छाया के स्थान पर समुद्र का जल विक्षुब्ध होकर झाग बन रहा था, जो सफेद बादलों जैसा दिख रहा था। यह दृश्य समुद्र के खारे पानी (लवणाम्भसि) पर एक अद्भुत चित्र प्रस्तुत करता है।
