शुशुभे स महातेजा महाकायो महाकपिः ।
वायुमार्गे निरालम्बे पक्षवानिव पर्वतः ॥ ॥५-१-७८॥
śuśubhe sa mahātejā mahākāyo mahākapiḥ । vāyumārge nirālambe pakṣavāniva parvataḥ ॥ ॥5-1-78॥
Translation
That great monkey of immense splendor and gigantic body shone in the unsupported path of the wind like a winged mountain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे महातेजस्वी और विशाल शरीर वाले महाकपि, आलंबन रहित (बिना सहारे के) आकाश मार्ग में पंख वाले पर्वत के समान सुशोभित हुए।
English Commentary
This verse draws upon the mythological motif of the flying mountains (Mainaka being one such example). Before Indra clipped their wings, mountains were believed to fly. Describing Hanuman as a "winged mountain" conveys both his massive stability and his defiance of gravity. The phrase nirālambe (unsupported) highlights the void of the sky; there is nothing holding him up but his own will and velocity. The repetition of mahā (great/courageous) in three adjectives underscores his dominance over the elements.

प्राचीन भारतीय कथाओं में यह माना जाता है कि पहले पर्वतों के पंख होते थे और वे उड़ सकते थे। यहाँ हनुमान जी की तुलना उसी 'पंख वाले पर्वत' से की गई है। 'निरालम्बे' शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है—आकाश में कोई सहारा नहीं है, फिर भी हनुमान जी अपने आत्मबल और वेग से स्थिर हैं। 'महातेजा', 'महाकायो', और 'महाकपिः'—ये तीन विशेषण क्रमशः उनकी आंतरिक शक्ति, शारीरिक विशालता और उनकी जातिगत श्रेष्ठता को दर्शाते हैं। वह आकाश में एक उड़ते हुए शिखर की भांति प्रतीत हो रहे हैं।
