Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
येना स नासौ याति बलवान् वेगेन कपिकुञ्जरः ।
तेन मार्गेण सहसा द्रोणीकृत इवानवतः ॥ ॥५-१-७९॥
yenāsau yāti balavān vegena kapikuñjaraḥ । tena mārgeṇa sahasā droṇīkṛta ivārṇavaḥ ॥ ॥5-1-79॥
Translation
Wherever that powerful elephant among monkeys went with speed, the ocean along that path suddenly appeared to be turned into a trough.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह बलवान कपि-कुंजर (वानर श्रेष्ठ) जिस मार्ग से वेगपूर्वक जा रहे थे, उस मार्ग में समुद्र (वायु के दबाव से) अचानक द्रोणी (नाद/घाटी) के समान बन जाता था।
English Commentary
This represents a keen observation of physical phenomena. As Hanuman flies low and fast over the water, the air pressure generated by his bulk and speed presses down on the ocean surface. This creates a wake or a depression in the water directly beneath his path, described here as a droṇī (a trough, valley, or basin). The ocean seems to part or bow down under his incredible momentum. The epithet kapikuñjaraḥ (elephant among monkeys) reinforces the idea of his heavy, unstoppable mass moving through the air.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक वायुगतिकी (aerodynamics) का एक अद्भुत प्राचीन वर्णन है। हनुमान जी का वेग इतना तीव्र है कि उनके शरीर से उत्पन्न वायु का दबाव नीचे समुद्र के पानी को दबा देता है। जहाँ-जहाँ से वे गुजरते हैं, नीचे का पानी दब जाता है और एक लंबी नाली या घाटी (द्रोणी) जैसी बन जाती है। 'कपि-कुंजर' का अर्थ है वानरों में हाथी जैसा श्रेष्ठ। जैसे हाथी जंगल में रास्ता बना लेता है, वैसे ही हनुमान जी ने हवा और पानी को चीरकर अपना मार्ग बना लिया है।
