आपाते पक्षिसंघानां पक्षिराज इव व्रजन् ।
हनुमान् मेघजालानि प्रकर्षन् मारुतो यथा ॥ ॥५-१-८०॥
āpāte pakṣisaṃghānām pakṣirāja iva vrajan । hanumān meghajālāni prakarṣan māruto yathā ॥ ॥5-1-80॥
Translation
Travelling like the King of Birds in the path of flocks of birds, Hanuman dragged the clusters of clouds just as the wind drags them.

पक्षियों के समूह के मार्ग (आकाश) में गरुड़ की भाँति चलते हुए हनुमान जी बादलों के समूह को वैसे ही खींचते ले जा रहे थे, जैसे पवन बादलों को खींचता है।
English Commentary
Hanuman acts as a force of nature here. He is compared to Pakshiraja (Garuda) regarding his dominance in the sky, but the functional description compares him to the wind (Maruta). The verse describes the wake turbulence caused by his flight; as he zooms past, the clouds are dragged along in his slipstream (prakarṣan). This reinforces his lineage as the son of the Wind God—he does not just move through the air; he commands and manipulates the atmosphere just as the wind does.

यहाँ हनुमान जी की तुलना दो शक्तियों से की गई है—गरुड़ और वायु। पक्षियों के मार्ग (आकाश) में वे गरुड़ जैसे श्रेष्ठ लगते हैं। दूसरी ओर, बादलों के बीच उनकी गति ऐसी है जैसे स्वयं वायु देव बादलों को उड़ा ले जा रहे हों। चूँकि हनुमान 'मारुति' (वायुपुत्र) हैं, इसलिए वायु के साथ उनकी तुलना अत्यंत स्वाभाविक है। जब कोई बड़ी वस्तु तेजी से हवा में गुजरती है, तो उसके पीछे का निर्वात (vacuum) बादलों को अपनी ओर खींचता है; यही दृश्य यहाँ वर्णित है।
