Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
शेषं च मयि विश्रान्तः सुखेनातिपतिष्यति ।
इति कृत्वा मतिं साध्वीं समुद्रश्चन्नमम्भसि ॥ ॥५-१-९१॥
śeṣaṃ ca mayi viśrāntaḥ sukhenātipatiṣyati । iti kṛtvā matiṃ sādhvīṃ samudraścannamambhasi ॥ ॥5-1-91॥
Translation
"Having rested on me, he will cross the remaining distance with ease." Having formed this noble thought, the Ocean spoke to the one hidden in the waters.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"मुझ पर विश्राम करके वे शेष मार्ग को सुखपूर्वक पार कर लेंगे।" ऐसा उत्तम विचार करके समुद्र ने जल में छिपे हुए (मैनाक पर्वत) से कहा।
English Commentary
The Ocean’s logic is sound: a pit-stop ensures the success of the long haul. The phrase matim sādhvīm (noble/virtuous intention) validates his plan. The verse transitions the action from thought to speech. The Ocean addresses someone described as channam ambhasi (hidden in the waters). This refers to Mainaka, the submerged golden mountain. The personification continues as the Ocean prepares to wake his dormant friend to serve a higher cause.

सागर की योजना व्यावहारिक है। यदि हनुमान बीच में विश्राम करेंगे, तो शेष यात्रा 'सुखेन' (आसानी से) पूरी होगी। 'मतिं साध्वीं' (साधु/उत्तम बुद्धि) दर्शाता है कि सागर का विचार स्वार्थ रहित और परोपकारी है। श्लोक के अंतिम भाग में 'समुद्रश्चन्नमम्भसि' (समुद्र + छन्नम् + अम्भसि) का प्रयोग है, जिसका अर्थ है जल के भीतर छिपे हुए मैनाक पर्वत को संबोधित करना। मैनाक पर्वत समुद्र के तल में डूबा हुआ था, जिसे अब ऊपर आने का आदेश दिया जाएगा।
