तस्य राक्षस सिम्हस्य निश्चक्राम मुखान् महान् ।
शयानस्य विनिह्श्वासः पूरयन्न् इव तद् ग्र्हम् ॥ ॥५-१०-२४॥
tasya rākṣasa siṃhasya niścakrāma mukhān mahān । śayānasya viniḥśvāsaḥ pūrayann iva tad gṛham ॥ ॥5-10-24॥
Translation
The heavy breath issuing from the mouth of that lion among Rakshasas, as he slept, seemed to fill that entire dwelling.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सोते हुए उस राक्षस-राज (राक्षस सिंह) के मुख से निकलने वाला महान (भारी) निश्वास उस पूरे भवन को मानो भर रहा था।
English Commentary
Ravana is epithetized here as Rakshasa Simha (Lion among Rakshasas), denoting his supremacy and ferocity. The verse focuses on the auditory and physical impact of his breathing. The phrase pūrayann iva (as if filling) suggests that his respiration was deep, rhythmic, and powerful enough to permeate the spacious chamber. This hyperbolic description serves to amplify the scale of Ravana's physical being; even in a passive state of sleep, his presence is overwhelming and occupies the entire space. It underscores the vitality and immense life-force (prana) contained within the demon king.

यहाँ रावण को 'राक्षस सिंह' कहा गया है, जो उसकी वीरता और अपनी जाति में सर्वश्रेष्ठ होने का सूचक है। कवि 'उत्प्रेक्षा अलंकार' का प्रयोग करते हुए कहते हैं कि रावण का निश्वास इतना प्रबल और गम्भीर था कि ऐसा प्रतीत होता था मानो वह वायु पूरे शयनकक्ष को भर रही हो। यह अतिशयोक्ति रावण की प्राण-शक्ति और उसके विशाल फेफड़ों की क्षमता को दर्शाती है। एक सोते हुए व्यक्ति का इतना प्रभावशाली वर्णन—जहाँ केवल उसकी साँस ही कमरे में अपना प्रभुत्व जमा रही है—हनुमान जी के मन में उत्पन्न विस्मय और सतर्कता को भी ध्वनित करता है।
