तथा अम्ल लवण उत्तम्सैर् विविधै राग षाडवैः ।
हार नूपुर केयूरैर् अपविद्धैर् महा धनैः ॥ ॥५-११-१६॥
tathā amla lavaṇa uttaṃsair vividhai rāga ṣāḍavaiḥ । hāra nūpura keyūrair apaviddhair mahā dhanaiḥ ॥ ॥5-11-16॥
Translation
(The floor was covered) with various acidic and salty excellent condiments, and ragas and shadavas (sauces/syrups). It was also strewn with widely scattered precious necklaces, anklets, and armlets.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(वहाँ की भूमि) खट्टे और नमकीन (चटपटे) उत्तम व्यञ्जनों तथा विविध प्रकार के राग-खांडव (चटनी/रायता आदि) से युक्त थी। साथ ही, वहाँ महामूल्यवान हार, नूपुर और बाजूबंद इधर-उधर बिखरे हुए थे।
English Commentary
Valmiki presents a scene of chaotic opulence. The floor is a mosaic of culinary spillages—tangy and salty condiments (amla lavana) typical of side dishes served with alcohol—and discarded jewelry. The juxtaposition of sticky sauces with priceless heirlooms like Hara (necklaces) and Keyura (armlets) highlights the careless abandon of the revelers. It suggests a state where material wealth is so abundant that it is treated with the same indifference as leftover food.

यह श्लोक पानभूमि की विचित्र स्थिति का वर्णन करता है जहाँ खाद्य पदार्थ और आभूषण एक साथ फर्श पर बिखरे हुए हैं। 'अम्ल लवण' और 'राग षाडव' चटपटे व्यंजनों को दर्शाते हैं जो मदिरापान के साथ चखने (chakhna) के लिए उपयोग किए जाते थे। विलासिता और नशे की अधिकता इतनी थी कि नर्तकियों और राक्षसियों के बहुमूल्य आभूषण—हार, नूपुर, केयूर—टूटकर या खुलकर गिर गए, और उन्हें उठाने की सुध किसी को नहीं रही। भोजन और धन का यह मिश्रण रावण की लंका के असंयमित ऐश्वर्य को दर्शाता है।
