Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पान भाजन विक्षिप्तैः फलैः च विविधैर् अपि ।
कृत पुष्प उपहारा भूर् अधिकम् पुष्यति श्रियम् ॥ ॥५-११-१७॥
pāna bhājana vikṣiptaiḥ phalaiḥ ca vividhair api । kṛta puṣpa upahārā bhūr adhikam puṣyati śriyam ॥ ॥5-11-17॥
Translation
With wine vessels scattered around, along with various fruits and offerings of flowers, that floor displayed excessive beauty/splendor.

इधर-उधर बिखरे हुए मदिरा पात्रों और विविध फलों से तथा पुष्पों के उपहार (बिखराव) से वह भूमि अत्यधिक शोभा पा रही थी।
English Commentary
The poet uses a paradoxical image here. Usually, a floor littered with cups (pana bhajana) and leftovers indicates squalor. However, the richness of the materials—golden goblets, exotic fruits, and fresh fragrant flowers—creates a visually stunning tapestry. The text says the floor "nourished its beauty" (pusyati shriyam). It reflects the aesthetic principle that in a place of high prosperity, even disorder carries an air of magnificence and artistic decadence.

सामान्यतः बिखरे हुए बर्तन और भोजन गंदगी का आभास देते हैं, किन्तु रावण के भवन की भव्यता ऐसी थी कि यह अव्यवस्था भी सुंदर लग रही थी। महर्षि वाल्मीकि कहते हैं कि वह भूमि 'श्रियम्' (शोभा) को पुष्ट कर रही थी। सोने-चांदी के पात्र, रंग-बिरंगे फल और ताजे फूलों का मिश्रण किसी रचित कलाकृति (installation art) जैसा प्रतीत हो रहा था। यह सौंदर्य 'विभ्रम' (beautiful confusion) का उदाहरण है, जहाँ त्रुटि में भी आकर्षण होता है।
