वास चूर्णैः च विविधैर् मृष्टाः तैः तैः पृथक् पृथक् ।
सम्तता शुशुभे भूमिर् माल्यैः च बहु सम्स्थितैः ॥ ॥५-११-२१॥
vāsa cūrṇaiḥ ca vividhair mṛṣṭāḥ taiḥ taiḥ pṛthak pṛthak । samtatā śuśubhe bhūmir mālyaiḥ ca bahu samsthitaiḥ ॥ ॥5-11-21॥
Translation
The floor shone, being spread separately with various fragrant powders here and there, and covered with many garlands placed all around.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह भूमि विविध प्रकार के सुगंधित चूर्णों (पाउडर) से अलग-अलग स्थानों पर बुहारी/लिपी गई थी और बहुत से पुष्प-हारों के फैले होने से सुशोभित हो रही थी।
English Commentary
Olfactory details are added to the visual ones. The floor was not just swept but treated (mrishta) with aromatic powders (vasa churnaih). This practice of perfuming the ground suggests a high degree of luxury and sensory indulgence. The presence of numerous garlands (malyaih) again points to the remnants of a festive celebration where guests wore and discarded flowers freely.

पानभूमि के वातावरण (ambiance) को सुगंधित बनाने के लिए फर्श पर 'वास चूर्ण' (सुगंधित पाउडर) का छिड़काव किया गया था। यह मेहमानों के स्वागत और मदिरा की गंध को दबाने के लिए किया गया होगा। 'मृष्टाः' का अर्थ यहाँ साफ की गई या लेपित की गई भूमि से है। बिखरे हुए फूल और सुगंधित चूर्ण मिलकर एक मादक वातावरण बना रहे थे जो कामुकता और विलास को बढ़ाता है।
